Could you participate in my study?
I am interested in how K-Pop stans communicate and discuss their community as fans online. I am using a few different sources of data for this, and two important ones are talking to fans, and observing what goes on on social media. Therefore, I am interested in finding fans who might want to participate, either through allowing me to observe their tweets for a month, or being interviewed, or both.

What does participation involve?
I will follow your main with my dedicated research Twitter/X account and observe your tweets for ONE MONTH (October 2023)
I will NOT record/use in the study any Tweets without asking you first
I may interview you about K-pop, the groups you stan, what you think of other groups and other fans, etc. This can be face-to-face or via DM, but this is NOT mandatory and you don't have to!
What does 'observation' mean?
Basically, observation means I will open the Twitter/X app daily (probably multiple times a day!) and read what is being posted by all the participants in the study, on the normal Twitter/X timeline. This may alos cover posts that appear on the timeline if participants like them or repost them.
This doesn't involve any effort on your part, just letting me follow you with the account for this project. This account will be private, so your privacy and participation in the study will be protected. I will make notes on interesting trends across multipe users' posts, in terms of the language used, the topics covered, or other shared similarities that might be interesting. I will not share any of those tweets with anyone without your permission, and I will not use tweets that contain shared information without your permission. At the end of the month, I will stop observing the tweets, and will close the account after I have completed my write-up for this stage of the research.
What about interviews?
I understand you might not want to be interviewed, or not want to speak on Zoom or Face to Face. That's fine! You do not have to be interviewed. If you would like to, I would be very grateful! Interviews will be done over Zoom, Twitter/X DMs, KakaoTalk or face-to-face depending on your preference and logsitcal possibilities. Please indicate on the sign-up form if you are comfortable with some kind of interview!
Does it matter who I stan? Does it matter how old I am? What about where I live/what languages I speak/how long I have been a fan?
The only requirement for participation in this study is that you are 18 years or older. No one may fill out the form and participate if they are under 18 for legal reasons.
Otherwise, no! I am interested in the diversity of the K-Pop community, and as long as you can communicate in English or Korean, you are welcome to participate! If you tweet mostly or only in a language other than English or Korean, it would be better if we only did the interview, since I will be focusing my study on tweets mainly in English, but Korean also to a lesser extent.
